FORMER actress and television presenter, Rumbi Mudenge, who died on February 26 in a bus accident on her way to South Africa from Malawi, will be buried on Saturday in Masvingo.

The 42-year-old socialite and Zimbabwe Arts Festival founder, died on the spot, alongside five other Malawians.

Rumba had been filming in Malawi.

Questions still remain, surrounding how she ended up in the bus, which some have claimed was overloaded.

However, her fans and friends have been mourning the loss of an actress who was loved by many.

Her sister, Jessie, said they were devastated by her death as a family.

“She was travelling to SA from Malawi, via Mozambique, and the bus she was travelling in was involved in an accident.

“She was one of the people who died on the spot. Rumbi was still living in Zimbabwe and she was filming in Malawi.

“There is a memorial service tomorrow (today) at Chisipite Senior School at 6pm. On Friday there will be a short service at Nyaradzo at 9.30am.

“Fifty seats are available for friends on a first come first served basis. There’re also seats available on the bus.

“The burial is on Saturday at 11.30am at the family homestead in Bawa, Masvingo.”

Some of her colleagues are still shocked by her death and have taken to social media to express their grief.

“Eish Rumbi, why you gonna have to go and do that? This is not what I need right now. Fly high, your spirit is such a vibe, you will never die. Mwoyo wangu kani, ndigameyiwo Jehovah.Tinopona Mapereke Katsande

Rest in peace to one of the most significant impacts in my life and my career. Always believing in me, supporting me and patiently walking by my crazy side over many years. I would never be who I am without you. Kapture and the Academy were literally in your hands from very early on and I will never forget that.

Thank you so much Rumbi Mudenge. I will never forget you and as you always used to say, ‘I will never give up’. Rest in power big sis. You were deeply loved and I will miss you. Rodney Takunda Manyepa Dandawa.

“It was shocking to say the least. She was filming in Malawi and was on her way to SA then home. Life can be so fickle, she was oozing with life just a few days ago and was one of the most honest, true to herself, pragmatic, witty, creative and so loving friend I made in the last decade. Today she is no more. May your soul rest in peace Rumbi Mudenge.Pardon Que Jones

She believed in Africa, she was grounded with ubuntu, she had a deep sense of culture, art and wellness. I remember your 38th birthday, the weekend you took us out to Antelope Park, and the road trip to Bulawayo and to your farms will remain as the best highlights I had with you. Thank you for the memories. May your soul rest in peace.Michael Bhebhe
