THE Spoken Word and Writers Association has urged authors to consider moving to e-books and audio books as viable alternatives to traditional hard copies.
SWWA president, Lennox Gondo, said embracing digital formats will not only expand the reach of their work but also cater for the changing preferences of readers.
Lennox also called for people to constantly read books so as to boost the country’s reading culture.
“In today’s digital age, e-books and audio books offer us unparalleled opportunities to connect with a wider audience and transcend the limitations of traditional hard copies.
“This does not necessarily mean that hard copies are not relevant, they will always be there but they are no longer that effective.
“Additionally, e-books provide readers with the luxury of carrying an entire library wherever they go.
“Audio books have revolutionised the way stories are experienced as talented narrators bring characters to life, authors can captivate listeners in a whole new way.
“They also cater for those who prefer to consume literature while multi tasking or have visual impairments.”
He added:
“Families can dedicate themselves to reading a certain book as a whole.
“That way, the reading culture will not die, especially among the younger generation. Books are not just words on pages, they hold the power to transform societies.
“Let us embrace the magic of reading for, in the pages of books, we discover new worlds, ignite our imagination and sow the seeds of knowledge.”
