TRAGEDY struck a Headlands family when a girl, who was walking towards home with her mother and two siblings, collapsed and died on the spot.
The incident happened on Wednesday and has left the Headlands community in shock.
Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the incident.
“On July 8, 2026, at Berthel Cop Business Centre in Kubatana of Headlands, Juliet Mashereni a woman aged 36, was walking from Gazaland Private College, where she works as a teacher, to her home at Kubatana Business Centre with her three children aged 6 years, 4 years and 1 year seven months respectively.
“About a few metres from their home, her six-year-old child called on to her to inform her that the four-year-old daughter had collapsed.
“She saw her lying on the ground on her stomach, unconscious.
“The mother tried to lift her and called her but to no avail. ‘
He added:
“She informed her husband and they rushed the girl to Rusape General Hospital where she was pronounced died upon arrival.
“A report was made at ZRP Headlands and police attended the scene.
“The body was conveyed to Rusape General Hospital mortuary, awaiting post mortem.
“Investigations are in progress.”
