A JEALOUS man sprung a shock to his wife after he came home unexpectedly and demanded to browse through her cellphone before bashing her and allegedly threatening to gun her down for refusing to hand her phone to him.
Telo Agent Moyo is based in South Africa where he is employed. Last Friday, he allegedly made a surprise visit to his home. He arrived at around 3am. A family member who requested not to be named said Moyo did not knock on the door but he just forced it to open.
“His wife Ntokozo Sibindi was sleeping with their four-year-old child while their maid was sleeping in another room. Sibindi was woken up by the popping sound of the door. He did not even greet her, but he told her to hand her phone to him but Sibindi refused to surrender it to him,” said the family member.
Moyo was so determined to see his wife’s phone that he allegedly quickly grabbed her and bashed her.
“He punched her in the face but his wife was strong enough to fight back as she pushed him away forcing him to tumble to the floor,” said the family member.
After that, Moyo, it is said, crawled to his bag and allegedly fetched a gun.
“He shot in the air while demanding that she gives him the phone but Sibindi stood her ground. He once again fired in the air threatening to gun her down,” said the family.
The family member said Sibindi bolted out of the room and ran to her neighbour’s home where she sought refuge.
He pursued her shouting that he would finish her off and he was not the father of their child. Fearing for her life, Sibindi dashed to Sauerstown Police Station where she reported the incident. In turn, fearing arrest, Moyo fled and is yet to be arrested.
Bulawayo Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.
“We would like to urge members of the public to desist from resorting to violence whenever they are faced with disputes. But they should engage third parties like pastors, police from the Victim Friendly Unit (VFU) or elders in the community,” he said.
Efforts to get a comment from Sibindi were fruitless.
