In Bulawayo, the shop manager was intercepted by three robbers while he was on his way home.

The robbers stole the cash stashed in the boot of the car before disappearing. A report was made to the police who are investigating the case.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi urged people to desist from moving around or keeping large amounts of cash in their homes and business premises.

Giving details of the Bulawayo robbery, he said it took place along Grayville Road near Arlington Court, Ascot, on Saturday.

“The gang of three in a white Toyota Runx intercepted a shop manager, who was going home while driving a Toyota Belta vehicle, before stealing US$29 000 cash which was in the boot,” he said.

The Harare robbery was at a house in Nzou Crescent, Windsor, in Ruwa where two robbers armed with a stone and a small axe stole cash, a laptop, four cellphones, shoes and two school bags.

Asst Comm Nyathi said the two stole US$10 610, 1 700 Zambian Kwacha, R2 500, 50 British Pounds and 200 000 Tanzanian Shilling as well as a laptop, four cellphones, 5 pairs of tennis shoes and two school bags.

“Anyone with information to report at the nearest Police Station,” Asst Comm Nyathi said.

Meanwhile, on October 20, 2023, detectives from CID Minerals, Flora and Fauna Unit in Harare who were acting on a tip off, arrested Godfrey Eliam (22) at a house in Marlborough in connection with unlawful possession of two pieces of ivory weighing 22 kilogrammes valued at US$3 740.
