Shot in the arm for handball

Rolph Haussener yesterday.
The donation is a result of a friendship established between ZHF president, Amon Madzvamuse, and the player last year when the Swiss toured Zimbabwe.
The equipment includes balls, kit, tracksuits and T-shirts sourced by another Swiss player, Niel Jacobs, in South Africa.

ZHF secretary-general, Alphios Magiya, said the equipment will be distributed mainly to the senior national teams.
“This will help in the realisation of our main aim, which is to nationalise the sport.
“Handball has been growing and the international community came to our rescue.

“We have balls that will be reserved for the national team when they are travelling.
“The executive will sit and decide how they are going to distribute the equipment,” said Magiya.
He said they were now looking for funds to enable national to participate in international events.

“Our next level is to make sure that the teams go out and participate in regional, continental and international events. We want to have more players playing at international level. “
Madzvamuse said they can only get into bigger aand more beneficial deals after the organisation holds elections.

“If we clear our mess they want us to be partnered by their national association.
“Mozambique has benefited from such partnerships, that’s why they are ahead of us.

“They also have partnerships with Portugal and Brazil,” said Madzvamuse.
