Shot in the arm for junior league

spokesperson of the captains of industry, said the curtain-raiser match against the parliamentarians before the World Cup qualifier between the Warriors and Guinea on Sunday, was part of their programme to raise funds for junior football programmes.
Some of the companies that make up the captains of industry team are BancABC, Delta Beverages, Mbada Diamonds, Marange Resources, FBC, Kingdom Bank and Barclays Bank, among others.

Key players that are set to showcase their skills on Sunday at midday at the giant National Sports Stadium for the captains of industry are Ali, captain Nigel Chanakira, Maxene Karombo from Delta, Major Mhlangu of Mbada Diamonds, George Guvamatanga of Barclays and Wilfred Munamati.

“We have appointed a coach, Ralph Watemwa, and due to our busy schedules, 15 coaches have been identified to work with individuals after hours, especially on fitness and tactical approach,” Ali said. Ali said it was their duty to be involved in football at various levels like coaching, playing, administration and refereeing, as a way of giving back to the community.

Plans are afoot by the captains of industry to curtain raise the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Burundi at the National Sports Stadium on June 17.
“In our country we have a lot of talented young players, especially those who live in remote areas, and their talent is being put to waste,” said Ali.
“We shall engage the national junior league management on strategies and programmes to fund countrywide.”
