SEVEN teams in Mutare rural and Chimanimani districts today received full soccer kits donated by Zimbabwe Football Association through its Rural Football Outreach programme meant to develop the game in remote areas.

The association’s Women’s Soccer League chairperson Mrs Barbra Chikosi handed over the kits to Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Honourable Monica Mutsvangwa.

Mrs Chikosi said it is part of the association’s vision to identify and nurture talent regardless of geographical location.

“Everyone deserves a chance to go places through sport despite their location and we want to reach out to all of the boys and girls in rural Manicaland,” she said.

Minister Mutsvangwa thanked Zifa for the gesture, saying it will go a long way in promoting the sport in the targeted areas.

“There must not be discrimination between children in urban areas and their rural counterparts in terms of participating in sport. It is, therefore, important to equip soccer teams in remote areas so that they help in developing future stars for the national team,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.
