BULAWAYO police are on the hunt for three armed robbers who fired shots at a motorist and fled with a black bag containing US$4 000 and R60 000 in the centre.
The incident occurred at around 6:45 PM on Sunday, 10 August, outside a food outlet at the corner of Fife Street and 12th Avenue.

According to Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, the 33-year-old victim from Pelandaba West had parked his white Nissan Note after placing an order at the outlet.
“Whilst in his motor vehicle, three unknown male adults armed with a pistol approached him and one accused person tried to forcefully open the driver side door… He failed since the doors were locked from inside,” said Insp Msebele.
She said the attacker then “used an unknown object to smash the door window and fired four shots at the complainant with a pistol, injuring him on the palm of his right hand.”

The victim ran from the vehicle, leaving behind a black bag stuffed with cash. The robbers grabbed the loot and walked away.

The injured man reported the matter at Bulawayo Central Police Station and was referred to hospital.
Inspector Msebele warned:
“We urge members of the public not to carry around large sums of money as this makes them followed and become a target for robberies. We appeal to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the accused persons to report at any nearest police station.”
