BULAWAYO will host the National Show Jumping Championships at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Showgrounds on Friday. The competition will run until Sunday.
Matabeleland Horses Association chairperson, Kerry Watson said they are pleased to be hosting the national event in the city.The equestrian contest is expected to feature over 100 participants in the various categories.
She said they are expecting over 55 participants from Harare while Bulawayo will provide 30 contestants.
The competitors will participate in three categories- children, juniors and adults.
PPC Zimbabwe and Ram Petroleum will sponsor the event.
Top local riders that include Sipho Ngwenya, Bradly Jazner Juniors and Watson are tipped to provide stiff competition to the Harare riders.
National champion Paula Dakin and Mkhululi Mnkandla – one of the best in the country – will be taking part as well.
Watson said they are anticipating an entertaining and competitive event.
“Last year the competition was held in Harare and they dominated in most events, I hope we can do the same since it’s here this time,” she said.
Watson said this would be a family fun event and encouraged people to come in their numbers.
