VOTING commenced on Saturday morning in the Victoria Falls Municipality by-elections, with polling stations opening at 7 am across three wards .
The elections are being held to fill vacancies in Wards 9, 10, and 11 following the recall of councillors by the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).
An average of 20 voters had cast their ballots by 9 am at most polling stations, reflecting a slow but steady start.
A total of 14 073 voters are registered to participate in the three wards.
Polling stations include Bus Terminus Open Space Tent A and B, Open Space Opposite Mosi Oa Tunya High School Tent A and B for Ward 9.
Ward 10 polling stations are Mosi Oa Tunya High School A, B, C and Enlightened College.
Ward 11 stations are Kings Primary School A, B-A, B-B and St Josephine Bhakita Primary School-A, B, C.
Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Commissioner Abigail Ambrose confirmed all systems are in place for the polls .
The by-elections are among four being held nationwide, with Ward 3 in Mutare Municipality also contested following the death of an incumbent councillor .
Twenty-three polling stations have been identified for all four by-elections .
Polling will close at 7pm.
ZEC has budgeted ZWGS 17 million for the by-elections and urged all stakeholders to observe the code of conduct and maintain peace before, during, and after the polls .
