SHUMBA Forex Academy, a recently established forex academy in Bulawayo, has formalised its operations by partnering with the Global Institute of Hospitality and Tourism, a private college. Through this collaboration, the academy will offer a variety of short courses, including foreign currency trading and marketing.
Mr Tapiwa Matarise, 30, the director of Shumba Forex Academy, stated that the academy aims to empower youth by providing vocational training skills.
“Some of the programmes last for two weeks, varying based on the interests of participants. Those enrolled in the trader’s course will receive fundamental training on how to navigate the market,” said Mr Matarise.
He added that the academy will host a series of free seminars to showcase the available courses.
“So far, we have attracted interest from individuals in Harare, Gweru, and Mutare. Our goal is to promote innovation through technology while empowering unemployed youths. There are many freelance online job opportunities they can pursue by earning certificates from our academy,” said Mr Matarise.
The academy has established partnerships with internationally recognised online trading platforms, including Deriv, Weltrade, and Volts Market.
“The aim is to have fewer unemployed youths engaging in delinquent activities such as drug and substance abuse and to have youth focused on developing themselves and the country,” said Mr Matarise.
He emphasised that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for young people to establish and manage their own businesses.
“Before independence, Black individuals were confined to low-paying jobs that barely allowed them to make ends meet. However, with advancements in time and technology, Zimbabweans now have the chance to become their own bosses through such initiatives,” he added.
