ANOTHER 10km stretch on the upgraded Shurugwi-Mhandamabwe Road was opened to traffic yesterday.

The road is undergoing significant transformation and is seen as a vital catalyst for increased transport movement along the southern corridor.

Infrastructure development is a top priority under the Second Republic, which is working to increase production across all sectors for sustainable economic growth.

Transport and Infrastructural Development Deputy Minister Joshua Sacco said the project had been completed within the planned timeframe.

“We are very happy as Government with the progress and the work that the contractors have done. This road is critical for trade and travel so it is important that we make sure it is completed within the planned timeframe.”

Dep Minister Sacco said the completion and opening of the second phase of the Shurugwi-Mhandamabwe Highway to traffic was a game-changer to the local community.

Shurugwi South Constituency legislator Cde Wilson Mhuri praised the Government for spearheading life-changing and people centred projects.

“The rehabilitation work on the Shurugwi-Mhandamabwe Road is a clear testimony that the Second Republic walks the talk and is fulfilling its promises.”
