Communities around Siakobvu Growth Point in Kariba Rural District will no longer have to travel long distances to Karoi, Gokwe, Siabuwa or Kariba to report crimes.

Completion of a modern, solar-powered police station at the growth point marks a major milestone in the Government’s drive to decentralise essential services to remote communities.

Located at the heart of Siakobvu Growth Point, the modern facility stands out, which is in line with the country’s development agenda under Vision 2030.

The new facility is equipped with administrative offices to enhance record management and case processing, solar-powered energy systems to guarantee uninterrupted operations, and adequate space to accommodate officers for round-the-clock policing.

It also includes victim-friendly facilities designed to improve the handling of criminal and civil matters, particularly cases involving gender-based violence and vulnerable groups.

Residents and traditional leaders have welcomed the development, saying it will significantly improve community safety and law enforcement efficiency.

The police station is expected to reduce response times to criminal incidents while improving access to justice for people living in Siakobvu and surrounding areas.

The community has been grappling with crimes such as stock theft, domestic violence and other offences that often went unreported because of the distances previously involved in accessing police services.

The station is also expected to provide a safer environment for businesses, schools and households, thereby contributing to economic and social development in the area.

The Government has prioritised the expansion of critical infrastructure in rural communities as part of efforts to ensure equitable development and improve service delivery across the country.

The completion of the Siakobvu Police Station adds to a growing list of projects aimed at enhancing security and strengthening the presence of State institutions in previously underserved areas.

For residents, the facility represents more than just a police station. It is a beacon of progress and a tangible demonstration of Government’s commitment to leaving no community behind as the country marches towards the attainment of an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.
