IT will be a siblings’ affair for Team Zimbabwe, at this year’s FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations Championships to be hosted by South Africa in Cape Town next week.

Brothers Mudiwa and Judah Sakupwanya together with Victor and her sister Tadiwanashe Nyamupfukudza are the two sets of siblings who are part of the 30 riders set to represent Zimbabwe at the FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations Championships to be hosted at the Zone-7 track in Cape Town from August 11-13.

Mudiwa and Judah are sons of prominent businessman and aspiring ZANU-PF Member of Parliament for Mabvuku-Tafara constituency.

Mudiwa will represent Zimbabwe in the 65CC class together with Kudzwai Chitsiura, Jayden Kerwin, George Ziemann, Chris Mupfanechiya and Sebastian Wright.

Judah makes the team in the 50CC class together with Cameron Fraser, and Victor.

One of the three Zimbabwe participants from last year’s championships in Uganda, Elroy Shamuyarira has been ruled out of this year’s edition due to financial constraints.

Tadiwanashe is joined by Leigh-Ann Young as the only female representatives of the Team Zimbabwe at the Championships and will compete in the WMX section.

Simbabrashe Nyamupfukudza, manager and father to Victor and Tadiwanashe believes the duo are ready for their second participation at the FIM Championships having made their debut last year in Uganda.

“Victor and Tadiwanashe made their debut race at the FIM Championships’ last year and it was a learning curve for the two.

“We are now looking forward to this year’s FIM Championships, using lessons from our last year experience,” said Simbarashe.

He added with only three participants at last year’s event, the coming in of more participants at this year’s Championships will enhance Zimbabwe chances of finishing in a respectable position.

“Last year we only had three riders and I am confident that with participants in each and every class this time we will finish strongly at the Championships,” said Nyamupfukudza senior.

Seasoned rider Emmanuel Bako will lead a cast of riders in the 125CC class which comprises of Jack Gobey and Declan Barreck.

Daayan Manuel will represent Zimbabwe in the MX2 section while Regan Wasmuth will compete in the MX1 section.

Trevor Thixton and Lofty Versveld make the Master section while the Veterans section comprises Warren Thorre, Douglas Mellor, Marc Thompson, Zenin Ekron and Scott Fraser.
