Sierra Leone President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma yesterday left Harare for South Africa where he is expected to meet with South African President Jacob Zuma to hold talks on the inclusion of African countries in the United Nations Security Council.
President Koroma, who is the chairman of the African Union Committee of 10, had been in the country to deliberate with President Mugabe on the need for African countries to have a voice on the UN Security Council. The Sierra Leone president was seen off at the Harare International Airport by Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko, Minister of Foreign Affairs Simbarashe Mumbengegwi and other senior Government officials. The AU Committee of 10 is advocating two permanent seats and five non-permanent seats on the UN Security Council.
The development comes as African countries are considered minors by the big five who may not represent the interests of African nations.
