It seems Nkayi-based Folklore musician Sikhosana Buhlungu cannot be patient for any longer and wait for Wicknell Chivayo to bless him with a car as it seems the flamboyant businessman didn’t hear his plea.

In June, the Dlala Ntethe song-maker composed a heartfelt song addressed to Chivayo, ‘respectfully’ asking for a car to carry his musical gear and ease his journey as an artiste.

“Respected Chivayo, I greet you this morning. I hope you are doing well and continuing the good work you have done for so many. On behalf of Sikhosana Band, I love you dearly and admire your work.

“It is my wish to drive and carry my music equipment. Can I kindly have a car to carry my guitar, life yangu ireruke. As Sikhosana, I am very humble. Ndokutendai,” wrote Sikhosana.

Two months down the line with Chivayo not replying to him, Sikhosana has decided to solicit for the car in his own way, as he has opened a Go Fund Me Account for his fans to inject money for him to realise his dream.

“Dear my followers, I am kindly asking you to buy me a Honda Fit. With this car, I will be carrying my performing equipment. I will also use the car to transport people from Zinyangeni to Nkayi Centre every day.

“Thank you to those who will help. To those who do not have anything to offer towards this dream, May God bless you in your work and efforts for it shall be fine one day,” said Sikhosana.

Sikhosana’s plea has generated mixed responses from his fans. Many of them are encouraging him to at least build a shop or drill a borehole at his homestead and venture into farming as such businesses can sustain him for a long time.

Thando Nomangwe said, “If less people donate towards your course, you may consider selling some of your cows and use those funds to drill a borehole and venture into farming. You can start with crops like cabbages and tomatoes which you can sell to generate money for buying a car.”

Another fan Thapelo Kgosi said a car is a liability.
“Personally, I believe a car is not a good idea. As for you who is based in the rural area, you must be talking about farming or starting a small business like a shop and selling fruits and vegetables. A car is a liability, not an asset,” said Kgosi.
So far, 13 of his fans have since donated. The amount generated is 86 Euros. The target is reaching 4000 Euros.
