Simba Bhora fined as Herentals, Golden Eagles clash

SIMBA BHORA owner Simba Ndoro has been fined US$2 000 by the Northern Region Division One Soccer League for his remarks on match officiating in the media.

Ndoro was quoted by our sister paper H-Metro complaining about the officiating in his team’s 1-1 draw against Golden Eagles at Ellis Robins on Tuesday.

The top-of-the table match was handled by rising referee Lawrence Zimondi.

However, Ndoro felt his team had been hard done when the officials disallowed Tinashe Balakasi’s second half goal for off-side.

The goal looked genuine as captured on video and Ndoro complained bitterly over the manner in which the game had been handled.

However, he was charged for flouting regulations for those comments and the US$2 000 fine has to be paid by August 16.

Simba Bhora, who have picked up more points at home than on the road this season, lead the standings with 57 points, two above second-placed Herentals Under-20 who have played a game less than the 26 the Shamva team has played.

Simba Bhora are away at Rimuka this afternoon to play basement side Cam and Motor.

Golden Eagles face Herentals Under-20 at Motor Action in what promises to be a thriller.

Herentals Under-20 coach Paul Benza predicted a tough battle as he eyes to pile on the pressure on Simba Bhora.

“We are ready for the match. We will go into this match knowing fully what we are required to do. My players are ready to go against one of the best teams in the league,” said Benza.

“We are looking forward to a good match. We are focused on collecting the maximum points but we know it won’t be easy playing against the third-placed team in the league who can jump to second if we lose.

“But we are raring to go, we will throw everything that we have. Golden Eagles have shown they can play good football even under pressure. But we have our targets as a team and we should be collecting points as we go.

“This is not going to be a walk in the park for us but look, we have a competent team that can beat anyone in the league and we are ready for them.”
