ZIMBABWE champions, Simba Bhora and all clubs participating in the 2025/26 CAF interclub competitions are set to receive a US$100 000 million financial boost for the preliminary round.
The first leg of the preliminary rounds for both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup is scheduled for September 19-21, 2025. The second leg will follow a week later, from September 26-28, to determine who advances to the group stages.
The group stages for the CAF interclub competitions are set to begin on November 21, 2025, with the knockout phase kicking off on March 13, 2026.
Zimbabwe only have one representative, Simba Bhora.
South Africa will be represented by four teams, with Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns competing in the Champions League, whereas Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC will be playing in the Confederation Cup.
CAF revealed that every team will receive financial support after the draw for the preliminary and second preliminary rounds of the Champions League and Confederation Cup, which took place at Azam Media Studios in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on Saturday.
“Teams that exit in the first two rounds will this season receive USD 100,000 [R1.7 million] to cover their logistical costs,” said CAF.
“CAF seeks to encourage more clubs to take part, which is reflected in the record number of teams registered for the 2025/26 season.” -Sports Reporter/Farpost
