SIMBA Bhora president, Simba “Buju” Ndoro, has promised to look after Barnabas Mushunje’s children.
This follows the untimely death of the midfielder.
Mushunje was pronounced dead upon his arrival at the Parirenyatwa after being involved in a horrific car accident, on his way from Harare to Shamva, on Tuesday.
The former Dynamos, Buffaloes, Ngezi Platinum Stars and FC Platinum man left behind two boys, his first child was four years old and the last born was six-months old.
“I’m really saddened with the passing of one of our key players,”said Ndoro.
“I’m still in a state of shock.
“Mushunje has done a great job in helping us to achieve our desired targets.
“We are going to do everything in our power to make sure that his wife and children get what they deserve, they are forever welcome if they encounter any challenge.
“His children are our main priority and we are going to make sure they get quality education.”
He emphasised Mushunje’s wife will continue to get Barnabas’s salary and bonuses, until the expiry of his contract. “Yes, we are going to act as if nothing has changed.
Mushunje was a dedicated warrior and he should get the respect he deserves.
“His wife will get his salary and bonuses up to the end of his contract and whatever package, which we are going to give our players, his wife will not be spared. “As long as this project exists, Mushunje’s family can count on us.”
Fellow players described him as a loving person and were saddened by his death.
“I’m saddened and was shocked to learn of his death. He was like a brother to me and we would always talk,” said Dynamos defender, Godknows Murwira.
“He died at his peak, he was doing well for his team, helping them win games.
“It’s sad that he died so young and I feel that he still had a lot to offer in football, such talent taken from us so soon.
“I couldn’t believe it when I heard the news at first and up to now I can’t believe it and we are just asking ourselves why Barna?”
Dynamos captain Partson Jaure said he was someone who would motivate other players.
“He was a friend to everyone, he would cheer us when playing. I couldn’t believe it when I heard the news, we will try to give the wife our support as much as we can.”
Mushunje will be laid to rest at his rural home in Bocha, tomorrow.
