CAPS United registered their third win in a row, beating Simba Bhora 3-2 in a tough battle at a slippery Baobab Stadium pitch.

Former Soccer Star of the Year, Rodwell Chinyengetere, scored his third goal in three matches, while Joseph Tulani and substitute Blessing Sarupinda scored the other two goals for Makepekepe.

The leading scorer for Simba Bhora, Tinashe Balakasi, made a brace, including one goal from the penalty spot.

CAPS United are now six points clear of the relegation zone with 36 points, while Simba Bhora must keep fighting to stay clear of the drop zone.

CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe praised his players for their great determination and character.

“The boys showed character and this is what we need going forward,” said a relieved Chitembwe.

“The players showed determination in otherwise difficult pitch conditions.

“In the second-half, we made some tactical substitution; it’s all about methodology, and it paid off,” he said.

Simba Bhora coach Tonderai Ndiraya said it was a disappointing loss, but felt his players played well.

“It was a disappointing loss, but a good performance by the boys. We will keep fighting to move away from relegation,” he said.
