FORMER How Mine striker Simba Sithole who was signed by South African Absa Premier Soccer League outfit Ajax Cape Town soon after the Chan tournament is out injured with a groin injury.Sithole is one of the players who impressed PSL teams with his good shielding of the ball and playing as a target man throughout the tournament won by Libya.
Ajax coach Ian Taylor told Chronicle Sport: “The team has been looking for a player, who can take on defenders, as we watched the Chan attentively we decided to sign in the Warriors striker.
“There is no doubt when Sithole is ready to play in the PSL definitely he will be a menace to his opponents. He is young with an abundance of talent.”
Taylor said that he has not seen him train with the rest of his team but according to the footage he watches on videos he is the best signing so far.
Sithole besides the injury is waiting for his work permit but everything is a done deal, he signed a two-year contract.
Taylor said: “The Warriors forward will fit into my team’s plans as he plays similar football as Urban Warriors do. His advantage is that he will command a regular position in the starting team as we play the type of football he plays.”
Ajax is a youthful team and it was once home to former national team players the late Francis Shonhayi, Wilfred Mugeyi, Ian Gorowa, Norman Mapeza, Khama Billiat and Tafadzwa Rusike.
Ajax lost 3-2 to Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria.
