titled “14 Carat”.
“The project, ‘14 Carat’, will feature music videos from 14 artistes I have produced for. Nothing to this effect has been done to promote the local videos.
“This will in turn go a long way in promoting our local songs,” he said.
SimbaGee applauded the work being done by musicians in their videos but said more was needed to ensure that they measure up to international standards.
“Work has been done in bringing up brilliant videos and the quality is improving each time.
“However, locals are yet to learn that having state-of-the-art equipment does not directly translate to good videos. There is more to video production than shooting people in hired cars and houses,” he said.
SimbaGee boasts of having created top quality videos for musicians that are having a fair share of air time on local television. One of them, Finton Zuva, is said to be headed to top African music channel Channel O.
He credits this success to simplicity and taking his time when working on videos.
“I use professionals and models in videos. I take the time to rehearse with them in the days that we do the video shoots.
“This allows one to take as many clips as possible and choose the best for the video.
“This is because the end product has to last longer in the minds of viewers. The audience should want to keep watch a video,” he said.
SimbaGee encouraged artistes not rush through their music videos, saying there were a way of advertising themselves to stakeholders. He added that locals should take a leaf from countries that are doing well in terms of videos
“So far I have worked with Mzimba, Sanni Makhalima, Trevor Dongo, Stunner, Victor Dee, Yoz, Wiriranai, Ronica Masuku, Jusa Mpostori on their videos,” he said.
“14 Carat” will be launched next month and will feature some of the popular genres.
