SIMBISA Brands lost US$16 000 to a thieving shift manager at its Chisipite branch in Harare.

The manager, Webster Mavhirima, tampered with the company’s system to divert money from the InnBucks account to his personal account.

Mavhirima transferred US$12 500 to his account and colluded with another employee, Emmanuel Manatsa, who is on the run, to transfer funds to his account.

The theft was discovered when the company’s human resources manager noticed discrepancies in the transactions from January.

They found that Mavhirima had transferred money into his account without receiving cash for the deposits.

The company only recovered US$3 400.

Rufaro Chonzi appeared for the State.
