Fungai Muderere in Binga

LITTLE known Simbo High School stunned many at the Matabeleland North COPA Coca-Cola provincial finals held in Binga last Thursday when conquered all and sundry in the Under 15 girlsA category to book a place in the national finals set for next Friday and Saturday in Zvishavane.

Hailing from the thickest of Nkayi, the schools head coach Fungai Manyangarirwa, said they reaped fruits of hardwork.

a?We started preparing our team since January and coming from Nkayi which many refer to it as Konyama Ubambile, we had to tell our boys not to look down upon themselves. Itas our first time to qualify to the national finals. The girls got quite a good exposure and we are looking forward to well in the finals,a? said Manyangarirwa.

To book their national finals berth, Manyangarirwaas charges beat Mabhikwa 3-2 after a penalty shootout in the final tie. The two teams had played a one all draw.

In the boysa category, Manyangarirwa watched in disbelief when his charges crumbled to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of seasoned campaigners Somvubu Secondary School.

Somvubu head coach Phineas Mbayimbayi said they were feeling on top of the world.
