SINGER PREACHES THE GOSPEL OF REDEMPTION

SOUTH Africa-based gospel singer Harriet Chadzingwa-Manda has released her debut ‘EP Draw Me Close’ which she says is aimed at helping troubled souls to lean to God.

She says she wants to make music which speaks to people in a very personal way.

“This EP is honestly so special to me. It’s more than just a collection of songs, it’s my heart poured out into the music.

“Each track has its own story, its own journey and they all come together to deliver a message about drawing closer to God.

“That’s really the whole idea behind the project.

“I wanted to create music that speaks to people in a very real and personal way, whether you are in a place of gratitude, searching for hope, or just needing a moment to reflect.

“For example, songs like ‘Draw Me Close’ and ‘Durirai Mweya Wenyu’ are prayers for connection and surrender.

“And then you have songs like ‘Kukunda,’ which is about victory, reminding us that no matter what we face, we’re already conquerors through Christ,” she said.

On this project, Harriet worked with MacDonald Chidavaenzi (MacDee).

“He is a blessing and a genius and he really understood the vision I had for this EP.

“For me, this EP is about being authentic. I didn’t want it to just be music for the sake of it.

“Every lyric, every melody, it’s personal to me. And the goal is that it resonates the same it does to other people as it does with me.

“I have been through moments where I have had to completely lean on God, and I know many people can relate to that.

“I am so excited for everyone to hear it. I hope it blesses people as much as it blessed me while creating it.”

She added:

“I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Macdonald ‘Macdee’ Chidavaenzi, Nyasha Mutonhori Nyaparami, Shaline R. J Gwenero and Tinashe Ndongwe.

“Their contributions added a richness and depth to the music that I’m so thankful for. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to this project.”

Her musical journey started at a tender age, singing in the church school choir at Hartzell High School.

“That’s where I discovered my love for worship and music. I then later started singing in church choirs and participating more in school music programmes from as far back as I can remember.

“However, while I have been singing all my life, this EP, Closer, is my official debut, and I started it just a few years back and it feels amazing to finally share my music with the world.

“It’s been an incredible journey so far and I’m grateful for the opportunities I have had to share my music with others.”
