Sistaz Open Mic, a monthly programme that gives upcoming female musicians a platform to showcase their talent has been postponed to pave way for the preparation of the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.
Pamberi Trust arts director, Penny Yon made the announcement yesterday. “This month’s edition of the Sistaz Open Mic is not taking place. “We postponed it, paving way for the preparations of this year’s global event, the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.
“The global event is slated for November 25 to December 10. And Sistaz Open Mic will be fitted in during that period,” she said.
Yon said they are working tirelessly to ensure that things are in order.
“We are working fervently towards putting the programme together since it has been the norm for us to do preparations for events like music, poetry among others,” she said.
The organisers of the show took to their page on Facebook and pronounced that this month’s edition is not going to take place.
“Dear all, just to let you know there will be no Sistaz Open Mic this Saturday November 14 but there is so much happening, Women Arts Festival, Ammi Jamanda will be launching her album soon, let’s rally behind each other and have fun.
“Also did you know that Pamberi Trust has moved from the Samora Machel Venue? Please make time to visit the new home on 90 Selous Avenue between 8th and 9th Avenues. Stay inspired,” reads the notification.
Many female artistes
that include Batsirai Chigama, Cynthia Marangwanda and Kessia Magosha have performed at the event.
