SISTERS DROWN IN DAM

A GIRL, who desperately wanted to save her drowning sister while they were swimming at Nyamariyai Village, ended up drowning in a double tragedy for their family.

The two school girls had gone to the dam to wash their uniforms and ended up swimming.

Acting Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the death of the two girls.

“At around 10am, Nokutenda Mukwada (12), and her sister Melania, went to a nearby dam near their homestead to wash their uniforms.

“They were in the company of one Ruvarashe.

“They finished washing uniforms and decided to swim but Ruvarashe refused.

“While they were swimming Melania drowned and Nokutenda tried to retrieve her sister.

“She also drowned.”

Ruvarashe rushed to inform the parents of the deceased.
