MUTARE-BASED sisters Amanda and Tanaka Ranganawa will, on January 23, launch their new film titled “Depth of Emotions”.

The film will be launched at the Golden Peacock Villa in the eastern border city.

Making their debut in 2017 with their movie titled “All She Wants”, the sisters are slowly carving a name for themselves in the local film industry.

The siblings so far boast a collection of five films.

Tanaka, who wrote the “Depth of Emotions” script, told The Sunday Mail Society that the film primarily focuses on love and spousal relationships.

The young generation, Tanaka said, is obsessed with love.

“I noticed that people are obsessed with everything to do with love. If you want to effectively market your content, the best way is to produce content that has something to do with love,” Tanaka said.

A holder of an honours degree in Film and Theatre from the Midlands State University, Tanaka said, in producing films that are laced with love themes, she took a cue from Nollywood producers.

“Nollywood producers have shifted from producing films that explore witchcraft and are producing films that are characterised by emotional love scenes. This shift is clearly paying off,” added Tanaka.

Tanaka’s sister, Amanda – who is also an actress, filmmaker, corporate model and brand ambassador – directed the film.

For Amanda, a bright future awaits the local film industry.

“If I look at the journey that I travelled, I can see that the local film industry holds great promise. When I started, it was very difficult,” said the award-winning filmmaker.
