SIX brothers from Kezi allegedly killed a fellow villager in revenge after the now deceased struck their brother with a bottle. Jonathan Dube, 39, Roy 26, Buhe, 35, Cyphas, 37, Doctor, 41, and a 15- year-old juvenile, all of Tshiphisani Village under Chief Malaba last Friday appeared before Gwanda magistrate, Nomagugu Ncube facing murder charges.
The magistrate remanded them to June 6 and advised them to apply for bail at the High Court.
Prosecutor, Takunda Mafudze told the court that last Monday the six brothers approached the now deceased, Ignatius Dube who was at St Joseph Business Centre in Kezi.
They allegedly dragged him to a nearby bottle store.
The siblings were allegedly seeking revenge after Ignatius struck their brother Artwell Dube with a bottle the previous night.
At the bottle store, Jonathan who was armed with a log allegedly struck Ignatius once on the back of the head.
He hit Ignatius repeatedly until he fell to the ground, the court heard.
The prosecutor said Jonathan’s siblings joined in the assault, punching and kicking Ignatius. “They only stopped assaulting him when they realised that he was unconscious,” said Mafudze.
Ignatius, added the prosecutor, was ferried by one Lungani Ndlovu to St Joseph’s Mission Hospital where he was transferred to Maphisa District Hospital for further treatment.
He died last Wednesday at around 8PM.
A medical report showed Ignatius had a cut on the back of his head, swelling on the lower part of the right ear and bruises on his right arm.
