Six foreign-based Warriors expected to join camp today

WARRIORS coach Michael Nees is expected to have the full complement of his squad for this afternoon’s training session with the arrival of the last six players in South Africa.

Zimbabwe will play Kenya at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane in a 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier on Friday with the Warriors needing to avoid defeat in that tie to secure their progress from Group J.

Cameroon have already qualified and only one spot is available from the pool which also has Namibia who have since crashed out of the running.

The Warriors will complicate their lives if they lose to Kenya as they will need to beat Cameroon in their last group game in Yaoundé next week to ensure their qualification.

And Nees has been praying all the players wILL be available for the crunch battle.

With Washington Arubi, Khama Billiat, Tawanda Maswanhise, Andy Rinomhota and Marley Tavaziva joining camp on Monday, six others, including captain Marvelous Nakamba, were yet to.

But they have already arrived in South Africa and are on their way from Johannesburg to Polokwane.

Teenage Hadebe, Nakamba and Divine Lunga were the first to assemble in Johannesburg and Jordan Zemura, Munashe Garan’anga, as well as Marshal Munetsi, arrived soon after.

All of them are being dispatched by Zororo-Phumulani, which is the logistics partner for the Warriors.

Zororo-Phumulani chief marketing officer Tendai Mangoti said his company Is happy to be working with the Warriors.

“We forged this partnership last month when the Warriors came to play against Namibia twice in Johannesburg,” he said.

“We then decided to make it solid and we are the ones taking care of all the logistical side of things.”
