THE Motty Foundation will host its second women’s soccer tournament at Sai Mart Ground in Emganwini on Saturday.

The six-team tournament is aimed at uplifting the Girl Child through soccer.

Danny Ndlovu who is the founder of the foundation said the tournament seeks to showcase the talent found in the local communities.

Six teams will face off at the tournament, five coming from the Bulawayo Province league and one from Hwange.

The six teams that will participate are the hosts Rea Vaya Royals, the guest team Young Sables Academy from Hwange, Bulawayo Galaxy FC, Newzone Academy, StreetSet FC and Dube Strikers FC.

“As a foundation, we want to expose the talent from the community, build a base where scouts can come and identify talent, at the same time giving them a chance to learn about life skills.

“The institution is still new, something we started this year during the first tournament we did with the Under-13 boys, we moved over to partner for another Under-11s event which was hosted last week and then this week it’s for the ladies,” said Ndlovu.

Ndlovu said they are an organisation that works with the youth in sport from the communities with the idea to help them grow while exposing their talents.

“We raise awareness through sport and we also do this through organising sports tournaments of which for now we’ve only done soccer. Our aim is to grow beyond soccer,” he said.

Ndlovu said that through such tournaments the youth get to learn life skills and are taught the dangers of drugs and substance abuse.

“During these tournaments the youth also get a chance to discuss life skills, share their thoughts on drugs and substance abuse, how drugs affect their lives and come up with solutions to better their livelihoods.

“Not only do we chase sports development but also create a supportive community where the youth can relate, belong and are encouraged to have fun doing what they love,” said Ndlovu.

There are many prizes to be won including a trophy for the champions, medals and individual awards.
