LOVEMORE Munyamana once again proved why he is the best bodybuilder in Bulawayo when he won his sixth in a row Mr Bulawayo title at Elite 400 on Saturday night.

Munyamana, winner of Mr Bulawayo since 2012, saw off the challenge of six other competitors to be crowned the best. In second place was Thembinkosi Lunga while Justice Chikava was third.

The 33-year old expressed his desire to continue with bodybuilding up to the age of 40, which means those who want to wrestle Mr Bulawayo from him still have seven more years of sweating. He praised Lunga for giving him a good contest which is an indication that Bulawayo now has more talented bodybuilders.

“I am very happy very, I am still kicking because I am 33 years old. I am left with seven years, I will quit bodybuilding at 40. Themba gave me a good competition which means Bulawayo now has upcoming good athletes,” Munyamana said.

On what made him stand out on the night, Munyamana believes his hard work at the gym paid off. Munyamana used Mr Bulawayo to prepare for Mr Zimbabwe in Harare on Saturday where he is expecting to do well.

“Obviously here in Bulawayo no one trains like me so I know that it’s game over and it’s going to be mine because I am a hard worker. Going to Mr Zimbabwe, I am expecting fireworks because I didn’t prepare much for Mr Bulawayo because I know the Bulawayo guys were not working hard,” said Munyamana.

For being crowned the best senior bodybuilder, Munyamana took home R1 000, a trophy, Nokia A3 and two kilogrammes worth of supplements. Lunga got R1 000 while R500 went Chikava’s way.

Shantel Greenland made it three times in a row in the Ms Bulawayo contest where she had Selina Manuel and Eulene Ndlovu as her challengers. Manuel was second while Ndlovu took third spot.

Pardon Dube scooped the men’s physique section, Marvelous Ganda was the first runner up and Tapiwa Zimhamba second. Dube smiled his way back home with R1000, Ganda got R750 with R500 given to Zimhamba.

The men’s juniors winner was Zibusiso Khumalo, the runner up was Dean Grant while Blessing Timburwa was third. Khumalo received R1 000, Grant’s reward was R750 and Timburwa took home R500. Grant got himself an extra R500 after being adjudged as the best poser during the entire show.

Local businessmen Thompson Mpala, Farai Maganda and Consha Enterprises were the bankrollers of the event.

It was a clean sweep for Body Works Gym since all the 12 athletes who made it to the top three positions in all the four categories train at the Nathan Greenland owned facility. Greenland flew all the way from his base in the United Kingdom to support his athletes and should be present again when they take to the stage at the Mr and Ms Zimbabwe at 7 Arts Theatre in Harare on Saturday. — @Mdawini_29
