Siyaya Arts dancers disappear in UK again

Auxilia Katongomara Entertainment Correspondent
CELEBRATED Bulawayo dance group Siyaya Arts has once again been dealt a cruel blow as two of its group members allegedly disappeared during their recent tour of the United Kingdom. Last year, three dancers Cleopatra Mugadza, Consolatta Ngwenya and Nyarai Marufu reportedly sneaked away from the group on its way to the airport and are believed to be in the United Kingdom.
The latest “rebels” alleged to have illegally stayed behind are Benhilda Ngwenya and Thubalenkosi Gumede.

The group might suffer challenges acquiring visas for their international tours because of members who choose to remain behind after tours.

Sources said the duo disappeared shortly before departure from London last week and are alleged to have complained of poor remuneration.

Ironically, Gumede, a long serving member of the group, was said to have been in charge of the group during the director’s absence in London.

The group, popular for one of the greatest productions in the arts industry, Zambezi Express, returned last week.
Siyaya director Saimon Mambazo Phiri could not be reached for comment as he was said to be in a meeting.

Some of the notable artistes to have lost their members after international tours include the late Tongai Moyo and Alick Macheso.
At one point football giants Highlanders and Caps United had some of their players remaining in the UK after a football tour in that country.
