ZANU-PF National Chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo yesterday took his campaign to Avoca area in Insiza South Constituency where he urged party supporters to vote in their thousands on Wednesday and correct the mistakes they made in the 2008 harmonised elections.
Cde Khaya Moyo, who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Margaret Moyo, has successfully held 21 rallies in Matabeleland South Province in the last two weeks.
Today he will be at Maphisa Growth Point in Kezi.
At the Avoca rally he told party supporters that it was important to vote for Zanu-PF as it was a tried and tested party.
“We are here to remind one another where we are coming from, where we are and where we are going. Thousands of sons and daughters of Zimbabwe lost their lives to bring freedom to their people. Everybody in the country benefited from the freedom, including sellouts,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.
“Some people spent several years in prisons and some lost their loved ones during the liberation struggle. We must thank them for bringing this land to us.”
Cde Khaya Moyo also reminded the people of the Unity Accord which was signed by President Mugabe and the late Vice President Joshua Nkomo, saying it must be respected.
“People like the late Cde Nkomo do not die, they are called by the Lord. Cde Nkomo left Cde Mugabe with two tasks, to maintain the Unity Accord and to give the land to the people. He also told the people never to leave Zanu-PF.
“We therefore do not stop people from leaving the party but we do not want to see people forming parties in the name of the late Cde Nkomo because he left the people in the hands of Zanu-PF, which is the right party for those who value freedom. These parties must know that they cannot reap from where they did not sow,” he said.
Cde Khaya Moyo said the whites had failed to topple President Mugabe and Zanu-PF and were now using puppets from within the country.
“We do not want to fight Morgan Tsvangirai because he is being used by the whites.
“When you see a tortoise on top of your table you do not have to fight it, instead fight the owner of that tortoise.
“We do not want people to follow tortoises because they will take us back to where we came from, yet we want to go forward. Zanu-PF does not accommodate sellouts but focused people who respect leadership,” he said.
Cde Khaya Moyo lambasted the MDC formations for challenging the election dates, saying they were still enjoying the money they were getting from the British.
“The election date had to be finalised through the courts because of their greediness.
“They were still enjoying the money that they are getting from the British, which does not even get to the people.
“Zanu-PF is an open party that will always listen to the people. Our manifesto shows all the things that we have done for the people. On 1 August, we will form a Government of our own that has people at heart,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.
Governor and Resident Minister for Matabeleland South Angeline Masuku, former Deputy President of the Senate, Cde Naison Khutshwekhaya Ndlovu, Insiza North and South National Assembly candidates Cdes Andrew Langa and Malachi Nkomo and aspiring councillor for Ward 12 Cde Daniel Mpofu attended the rally.
