party to win resoundingly.
Speaking at the Matabeleland South belated 21st February Movement celebrations held in Plumtree, Cde Moyo said youths, who comprised almost 60 percent of the country’s population, had a pivotal role towards safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.
“The youths constitute almost 60 percent of the population and therefore we are appealing to all those above the age of 18 years to fulfil their role of defending our sovereignty by registering to participate in the elections,” he said. Cde Moyo described President Mugabe as a role model whom the youths should emulate because of his dedication towards protecting the nation’s resources.
“Do not be influenced by traitors who are purporting to be leaders yet they are merely failing to be exemplary. Our President has always been exemplary in all aspects.
“He has led a morally upright life and he is no doubt a diligent and hard-working man who has always prioritised defending the sovereignty of the nation for the sake of the people,” he said.
Speaking at the same event, Zanu-PF secretary for youth Affairs, Cde Absolom Sikhosana, said the youths were key in the campaign process as well as in the success of elections.
“It was only after the struggle that the revolutionary party won us the right to vote. Today we have about 29 political parties and we do not even know where they came from. Young people should not be deceived by this strategy by the British to rob us of our sovereignty,” he said.
Zanu-PF provincial chairman for Matabeleland South, Cde Andrew Langa said the dedication and unity from the province was an assurance that Zanu-PF would perform well in the elections.
