The Chinhoyi Agricultural Show opened on a low note yesterday, although it registered an increase in the number of exhibitors from 121 last year to 128.
The show is expected to be officially opened today by Senior Minister Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo.
Show Society general manager Mr Tawanda Makunde said he expected more visitors starting today.
“Traditionally, more people come on Saturday and we do not expect this year to be an exception,” he said. “We have lined up a number of programmes to entertain and educate our visitors.”

Uniformed forces, parastatals, farmers and farmers’ organisations are among some of the exhibitors.
The major highlight for this year are fireworks, which are coming for the first time and a Congolese bike rider.

Mr Makunde said the vision for the Show Society was to grow it through having more exhibitors, while land was available for companies to erect their stands.
“We still have plenty of land on which we want companies to build their permanent stands for future exhibitions,” he said.

In a bid to maintain the ambience of the park, the Show Society has limited the number of vendors and organised places where caterers are located.
