Skeem Saam actress Makgofe Moagi has allegedly opened a domestic violence case against her husband, Mandla Mazibuko, following a violent confrontation at their home. The incident reportedly unfolded on 11 September 2026 after Moagi told Mazibuko she intended to end their marriage.
A source, speaking anonymously, alleged that the Limpopo-born actress had already sought legal counsel about the divorce before Mazibuko arrived home that day. When she shared her intentions, the situation reportedly escalated rapidly. According to the source, Mazibuko allegedly shoved her forcefully and then struck her several times in the solar plexus.
A police statement seen by Africa Daily largely corroborates the account.
“The complainant alleges that on 2026-09-11 at 12:00, her husband became violent after she said that she went to see a lawyer regarding divorcing him. She alleged that her husband forcefully pushed her and beat her using his fist and also damaged the main bedroom door, which will cost about R30,000 to repair,” it read.
Following the alleged assault, Moagi reached out to close friends, who reportedly urged her to go to the authorities. She subsequently opened a case at Midrand Police Station, and Mazibuko was arrested and detained.
Gauteng Police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko confirmed the matter. “According to the case number provided, a case of common assault under the Domestic Violence Act and malicious damage to property was opened at Midrand Police Station and subsequently transferred to Olievenhoutbosch Police Station for further investigation.
“The suspect was arrested and appeared before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on 13 September 2026, where the suspect was released on bail. The matter was postponed to 22 October 2026,” she said.
Moagi, who is widely recognised for her role as Charity Mabu on Skeem Saam and previously hosted the Motswako show on SABC 2, chose not to address the allegations publicly. “No comment as this matter is sub judice,” she said.
Mazibuko similarly declined to comment, citing the same reason. The case remains before the courts, with the next hearing scheduled for 22 October 2026.— BrieflySA.
