THE biggest, bravest and craziest breakfast show in Zimbabwe, Skyz Metro’s Vuka Vuka celebrated 100 episodes on Friday and as part of the celebrations, the show aired live from Bulawayo Centre.
The special six-hour show was hosted by its usual hosts, Babongile Skhonjwa and Khaya Drastiq and the two drew a reasonable crowd to the live show.
“100 episodes is a milestone for any broadcast show and if a show reaches that milestone, we can safely say that it has been successful. It has been a great journey particularly because of the support we receive from the Bulawayo public. We look forward to reaching 200 episodes and other milestones with our audience,” said Khaya during the broadcast.
“It has been an honour serving with you Khaya on the biggest breakfast show in the country. I look forward to celebrating more hundreds with you,” Skhonjwa said to Khaya, in a sentimental moment that the two presenters shared.
This was no ordinary broadcast as unlike a conventional radio show, it was characterised by live performances by various artistes. Among the performers were Bulawayo artistes Msizkay, Kontrol Tribe’s Frost, Martin the magician and Ras Boom and DJ Ace Kater of the Zankaleli fame.
In attendance at the broadcast were the familiar faces of Khuliyo, Highlanders Goalkeepers’ Coach Cosmas “Tsano” Zulu and other public personas who were joined by members of the Skyz Metro team but the show was stolen by Qobo, Sikhonjwa’s toddler son who won the audience over with his cuteness.
The audience at Bulawayo Centre walked away with hundreds of prizes ranging from grocery hampers, lunch vouchers, caps, t-shirts and tickets to Horizon Pub and Grill. The gifts were sponsored by Choppies, FortWell, Ingwebu, Leeside Butchery and Mamsie’s Kitchen among other corporates.
