Sleeping man jumps out of bus, fatally crashes

Justin Tsumele was travelling along with other family members on their way to Chiredzi.
They were coming from a shopping trip in South Africa.

Along the way, Tsumele reportedly fell asleep and during the process he is suspected to have had a nightmare.

He suddenly woke up when the bus was near Bubi village and jumped out through the window. He fell headlong on the tarmac and died.

The incident was reported to the police and his body was taken to Beitbridge district hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.

The police officer commanding Beitbridge district chief superintendent Lawrence Chinhengo confirmed the incident yesterday.

He said investigations were underway.
The incident comes a few weeks after a hawker was fatally knocked down by a bus at the same spot while attempting to cross the road.
