Sliz workshop to be more interactive

PARTICIPANTS at the fifth edition of the Sports Leaders’ Institute of Zimbabwe (Sliz) Summer Camp are expected to identify and come up with solutions to problems bedevilling the sports industry.

Nyanga will host the three-day workshop, which runs from December 9-11.

Sliz president Russell Mhiribidi said this year’s three-day symposium will be more interactive compared to their last camps in a move meant to come up with tangible solutions to help the sports industry’s growth.

“As Sliz we pride ourselves as leading game changers in the country’s sports industry and that is why we have come up with topics that will help local administrators develop sport and keep up with global sports management trends.

“For this camp, it will be more interactive with participants coming up with solutions to the problems or challenges that the sport industry is facing,” said Mhiribidi.

“We’ve heard a lot of people talking about injury prevention and first aid in relation to sport, so we’ve brought in nurses and health personnel that have been working with sports people.

“We think they are the best people to teach our sports leaders what is required in first aid.

“On digital era of sports management, the world has become one global village and we will discuss how best one can use smartphones profitably. Smartphones are mobile workstations and some of the advantages are that they can be used as a diary; they can be used to disseminate information on sports education, fixturing and promotions at the click of a button.

“We also want our leaders to tackle the facilities and infrastructure development matter. Most institutions have the facilities, yet their sporting infrastructure is dilapidated or lying idle. How then can an institution motivate children to use the facilities if they are not appealing? These are some of the topics we hope sports leaders will address at the camp.”
