SLOMO Dhaka’s teenage son Nathan is dreaming big and wants to follow in his father’s footsteps.

He has featured at Alick Macheso’s family shows.

Last week, the 17-year-old entertained fans when he partnered with Cheso Boys on stage at Werras Gardens in Glen View.

“I became famous when I was only in Form 2 during the second term at Morgan High School in Harare, where I proved to many people that I can dance,” he said.

“I am following in my father’s footsteps and it has always been my wish to emulate him and be counted among the finest dancers.

“As a young kid, I always wanted to be like him and I am glad that I am truly making him happy.

“I am also glad that my fans on Facebook have been giving me positive feedback, although some insist that I focus on school more.”

Nathan, who is dancing alongside his friend Mtandazo Moyo in most videos, revealed that he was also academically gifted.

“It’s quite unfortunate that there are people who don’t see art as a profession and I am here to prove them wrong that one can still dance and excel academically.

“I am in Form 4 at the moment and during the mid-year examinations, which define one’s potential and possible results, I passed eight subjects. I have been working hard on the two other subjects in which I did not perform well,” he said.

Nathan, who stays in the Harare Avenues area, told this publication that he was angling to work with Cheso Boys, a group co-founded by Alick Macheso’s two sons, Esau and Tatenda.

“I have always wanted to be part of their (ChesoBoys) set-up because we are all sons of living legends. We are lucky to have the privilege of performing while they are still alive and active. It’s quite a privilege for us as young creatives to learn from the best and capable hands that laid the foundation for us to build upon.”

He also commended his father, Slomo, for blessing his career path.

“My father has always been there for me, and he is one of the people who have supported me from day one when I showed signs that I could dance. “We sometimes perform together when time permits and I am proud of him and what he does for me to be where I am today. He has walked this journey before and it’s up to me to build from where he left off and be counted among talented people like him,” he said.

Like his father, who can also play instruments, Nathan has vowed to do the same, although he wants to receive more lessons from the Cheso Boys co-founders.

“I have an idea of playing instruments but I also want to be a complete artist who can dance, sing, and play the guitar.

“I am taking each step bit by bit, and at the moment, I am working on boosting my page to capture the hearts of many people out there,” he said.

With many of his followers proud of the youngster’s talent, they have been encouraging him to balance school work and music.

As a content creator, they have also warned him about the harsh realities of social media, where trolls can be nasty at times.
