Smart meter installation underway in Eastern Zimbabwe.

SMART meter installation begins today in Eastern Zimbabwe for medium (CT) and maximum power (MD).

Residents are getting the smart meters free of charge.

The smart meter installation will take place in Mutare, Masvingo, Nyanga, Rusape, Chimanimani, Chipinge, Chiredzi, and nearby areas.

In a statement, the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) said smart meter installation teams will be identified by wearing ZETDC-branded work suits.

“The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company would like to advise its valued customers in the Eastern Region that the utility will be conducting an exercise of retrofitting smart meters on medium power(CT) and maximum demand (MD) points from the 18th of September 2023.

“Our teams will be in their ZETDC branded work suits and in possession of official ID cards,” reads the statement.
