BUSINESSES organisations exhibiting at the ongoing Zanu-PF 16th Annual People’s Conference at the Show Grounds in Masvingo yesterday hailed the party for providing them an opportunity to showcase their products to a large audience.

The conference will see 60 companies including the Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) showcasing their wares.

Doves Funeral Insurance communication executive Mr Kudakwashe Mutandi said the revolutionary party has shown that it promotes local businesses by giving them an opportunity to showcase their wares to a bigger audience.

He said the company is elated to be associated with an organised party like Zanu PF that has a passion for business.

“We are happy to be presented with this opportunity to showcase our products and services to a bigger audience during the conference. Besides we have many Zanu-PF members who have funeral policies with our company and we will have the opportunity to interact with them telling them about our plans and new products,” said Mr Mutandi.

He said members can open new policies during the exhibition urging those who had policies during the Zimbabwe dollar era to visit the company stand.

Ashava Designs director Ms Rosemary Vambe whose company specialises in making African attire said the Zanu-PF conference provides small businesses with an opportunity to establish  business contacts.

“This is a chance for us to establish business contacts. I have been connected to foreign business partners and I am already receiving export orders. The venue and our exhibition stands are also strategic as all delegates will pass through here,” said Ms Vambe.

Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company Pvt Ltd senior public relations officer Mr Brian Mangwende said the conference has given them a chance to demystify the issue of diamond mining in the country to party delegates.

He said after the brief disturbance caused by the cancellation of licences for a number of companies which were operating at Chiadzwa in Manicaland, there was a lot of confusion.

“This conference gives us an opportunity to demystify a number of things around operations at Chiadzwa. We have successfully moved 23 families from the mining environs to Arda Transau and built them nice homes where there are basic social amenities. We will also use the opportunity to let delegates know that diamond mining is still operational, there is activity at Chiadzwa,” said Mr Mangwende.

Ms Silvia Dube who leads a cooperative of 15 women in Mashava and specialises in manufacturing reusable ramp pads, praised the party for empowering women.

“We feel empowered by Zanu-PF because they are giving us a chance to market our products.  Imagine all the 7 000 delegates coming to our stands to see what we do. We are confident that new markets for our products will be opened,” she said.

The conference which started on Tuesday and ends on Saturday is running under the theme, “Moving with Zim-Asset in Peace and Unity.

About 7 000 party members including foreign delegates are expected to attend the conference which started with a politburo meeting at the party headquarters in Harare before the central committee met yesterday at the same venue.
