She lost out on a Golden Globe award earlier in the evening. But Helen Mirren didn’t let any potential disappointment get the better of her, and got a boost from unlikely pal Mike Tyson as she attended the official HBO after-party following the ceremony. The 68-year-old star happily posed for photographs with the former professional boxer on the red carpet at the bash, who looked equally thrilled to be standing next to an Oscar-winning actress.
Helen looked stunning in her emerald green Jenny Packham dress, which she paired with matching emerald earrings for the awards.
Meanwhile, Mike looked dapper in his black tuxedo and bowtie.
Helen had been nominated for the Actress in a Miniseries or Movie award for her role in Phil Spector, but lost out to Elisabeth Moss, who took home the prize for her role in Top Of The Lake. But the actress didn’t appear too upset about the snub, enjoying herself as she kicked back with Mike on the red carpet.
She was also joined by her husband Taylor Hackford as she attended the after-party at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. It was certainly a night for couples, as Matt Damon also made an appearance at the bash with his stunning wife Luciana Barroso.
Matt also missed out on an award, having been nominated for the Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for Behind The Candelabra — which went to his co-star Michael Douglas.
But, ever thankful for working with Matt in the HBO project, Michael dedicated his award to Matt, as well as his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Matt did win in some capacity, however, as Behind The Candelabra took home the award for Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made For Television.
And Matt didn’t hold a grudge at Michael’s win, as the pair were seen embracing as they both attended the HBO bash. Other winners who chose the HBO party to celebrate at included Elisabeth, who looked delighted as she posed up with her newly-acquired award.
Girls actresses Alison Williams and Jemima Kirke looked stunning in their floor-length gowns for the event, while Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke wowed in her strapless printed number. Red was also a popular colour on the evening, with both Julie Delpy and Julia Louis-Dreyfus opting to stand out in the bright shade. — Dailymail.
