Soccer boss’ suspension lifted?

ZIMBABWE Women Football boss Miriam Sibanda, who had been suspended for misusing funds, says her suspension has been lifted and is now back in office albeit waiting for written confirmation of the lifting of her suspension. Sibanda together with other two members Ben Mamoche and Edwin Magosvongwe were suspended and her deputy Elizabeth Langa took over as the acting chair.

Women’s League had been divided into two of which one has been run by Sibanda while the other by Langa. “We never stopped playing games even if they said I was suspended. We are back in office and we were told that we will be given letters by ZIFA as proof. “I have the girl child at heart and will continue with women football nothing will stop me from doing the right things for girl child”, she said.

She revealed the future plans that she has. “For now the two leagues will continue to run as they are then next year will map the way forward”, she added. Meanwhile, Tenax Queens FC suffered their first defeat after they were beaten 3-4 by league debutants ZRP Morris Depot in a Super League match played at Morris Depot in Harare last weekend.

Tenax FC mentor Swift Dzangare admitted that they were outplayed by ZRP Morris. However he pointed out at a number of myriads that contributed to their defeat. “The game was free and fair. We do not want to put the blame on the referees because as a team we had our own problems. We travelled late for the game because we were told to wait for the boys who were to play Hartley.

“When we arrived we did not have even time for warm up we just went into the pitch as ZRP Morris was already waiting for us. The game was tough for us though my girls did their best under very difficult circumstances,” said Dzangare.The Tenax Queens gaffer pointed out that his ladies found themselves horribly exposed in defence where they struggled to contain the marauding police strikers.

Dzangare also talked about scouting for youngsters to replace some of the old players.“Some of the players we have are old and unfit to continue to play. In this coming holiday we will scout for new players that we will introduce to the system.

“The only limitation that we have is finance. These players need to be paid and get some incentives. We will work with what we have but definitely I will introduce new junior players for next season,” he said.
