THE Matabeleland North Soccer Coaches Association has lined up a number of football coaching courses.
They will be from Level One up to Level Three and school teachers will be their main target. According to the provincial coaches boss, Clemence Bonda, the first course will take place early next month in Hwange with former Zifa board member competitions, Benedict Moyo expected to be the course instructor, assisted by Bonda.

“We will have our Level One course running from September 2-7 in Hwange and then after that Kamativi Training Centre will be our venue for a Level Three course,” said Bonda.

“Our targets are teachers who are dealing with junior players at primary and secondary school level. Our expectation is to have at least two teachers who are trained coaches per school with a bias towards the girl child,” said Bonda.

In the last two years, more than 40 teachers have been trained and attained Level One and Two coaching certificates and are now ready for Level Three, according to the provincial chairperson.

“We are working with school authorities and clubs to line up courses and we expect to cover all districts in the province,” said Bonda.

The drive seems to be paying dividends as shown by the appointment of Evelyn Rimai, a school teacher at Hwange High School, to head the Zimbabwe Women’s Under-17 national squad.
