STATE Chaplain and Solusi University veteran alumnus Pastor Aaron Rusukira has welcomed the institution’s plans to establish a Faculty of Law, saying the development could strengthen its contribution to the Government’s Education 5.0 vision.
The planned faculty, which is expected to be established within the next 24 months, represents a significant development for Solusi University and could broaden its contribution to national and regional development.
Pastor Rusukira said the Faculty of Law could help advance the implementation of Education 5.0, which seeks to transform universities beyond producing graduates into centres of teaching, research, innovation, community service and industrialisation.
Welcoming the development, he described the proposed faculty as a “game changer” for Solusi University.
“Education 5.0 calls upon universities to move beyond the traditional production of graduates and to become centres of teaching, research, innovation, community service and industrialisation,” he told Zimpapers.
Pastor Rusukira said the objectives of Education 5.0 were compatible with the Adventist Christian philosophy of education, which emphasises the development of the whole person intellectually, morally, socially and spiritually.
“A Faculty of Law at Solusi could therefore occupy a unique position at the intersection of law, faith, ethics, innovation and service,” he said.
He said the proposed faculty could also enable Solusi University to contribute to the development of ethical, innovative and socially responsible legal professionals capable of responding to the country’s evolving legal and socio-economic needs.
