Son fatally strikes father over milk

his father Kenani Kunomwa (70) for insulting him after he had asked for the milk. Acting Mashonaland Central provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Orden Mhundwa confirmed the incident saying Mapicha was in custody assisting with investigations.

“We arrested one Patrick Mapicha who struck his father Kenani Kunomwa to death with a pestle following a heated argument over milk,” he said.

Asst Insp Mhundwa said the fatal incident occurred on May 20 at around 8pm when Kunomwa arrived home from Chiparare village where he had gone to buy milk. On arrival he found Mapicha sitting in the kitchen hut with his wife Edzai Chiwenga (18) who was preparing sadza. Mapicha asked for some milk and this did not go down well with Kunomwa who scolded Mapicha for being lazy before giving him the milk. Kunomwa retired to bed where Mapicha followed him prompting a heated argument. Mapicha, said the police, then picked a pestle and pummelled Kunomwa several times.

Kunomwa died on the spot. After the gruesome act, Mapicha allegedly proceeded to his bedroom to sleep. The following morning Mapicha woke up with his wife and proceeded to Kunomwa’s bedroom where he feigned shock at the death of Kunomwa.
