son repents in court

A HARARE woman on Monday obtained a peace order against her son who is in the habit of singing all night, disturbing her peace each time he comes home drunk. Tracy Satya had brought her son Brian to court seeking a peace order against him. She also wanted Brian barred from the family house because of his drinking problems.  Tracy told the court that her alcoholic son makes a lot of noise when he comes home from beer drinking such that she could not sleep.

“I want him to vacate my house and find alternative accommodation,” she said.

But Brian, who appeared remorseful, pleaded with the court not to grant the order sought on the basis that he had stopped drinking after his mother served him with summons to appear in court. He claimed that he had since repented and that he was now going to church with his mother.

“My mother is the only relative I know and the only parent that I have,” he said.
He added: “If she bars me from her house who will I turn to when I have problems.”

However, Tracy dismissed her son’s claims saying he does not change his conduct.
“He once repented and was baptised. He changed for a while and started drinking again. He told me that that is what real men do.”

After hearing evidence from both parties presiding magistrate Ms Olivia Mariga granted the order in Tracy’s favour.
